Opera in Blue Jeans: The Girl of the Golden West
Opera Santa Barbara is presenting a special night of Opera in Blue Jeans at Crossroads, the barn next to Brooks & Kate Firestone's home in Los Olivos. The evening will tell the story of Girl of the Golden West, Puccini's only opera set in California. This opera has three primary characters: saloon-keeper Minnie, the local sheriff Jack Rance, and Dick Johnson aka the bandit Ramerrez. We will also have a group of cowboys who will arrive to the event on horseback, OSB's Maestro Valery Ryvkin will preside at the piano, and the story will be narrated by none other than Brooks Firestone, who will add some local flair to the presentation. Between the acts, you will enjoy a traditional barbecue buffet dinner.
